Anniversary Activities for a Variety of Any Type of Celebration

Author: Gail Leino

A party can involve a myriad of anniversary activities. The anniversary we think of most often is the wedding anniversary but you can have an anniversary for a number of things, memorials of events, celebrations of business being in operation and technically a birthday is an anniversary of your birth.

Anniversary activities are meant to be fun or serious and usually have some connection to the type of anniversary you are throwing. A more serious anniversary might be a memorial of Hiroshima in which case the activities would be contemplative, moments of silence to remember, speeches by those who were affected by the bombing. A wedding anniversary can involve speeches as well. Usually folks will stand up to speak on the nature of their friend's marriage, whether or not they thought the couple would make and perhaps end with a joke or two.

A wedding anniversary can also recreate the wedding reception with activities similar to what occurred at the reception years before. The couple can have another cake cutting ceremony and perhaps a renewal of their vows.

Anniversary activities can simply be eating from an exotic or fun menu. Guests may enjoy eating from fondue pots. Or you could hire a sushi chef to come and make dinner with a flourish.

Games also make fun anniversary activities. They can get guests involved and moving. It's probably a good idea to choose games based who your guests are. If this is a five year wedding anniversary you may not have children present and there will be mostly young couples. To get everyone laughing play a version of the old Newlywed's Game from television. Have one partner in a couple leave the room, come up with questions about their mate and the right answers, then bring the partner back in for questioning.
